What is a summer camp?
A summer camp is a kind of vacation camp where children and teenagers can participate in recreational and educational activities during the summer school holidays. The activities may include sports, arts, science, nature, adventure, music, dance, cooking, and travel. Summer camps can be organized by schools, religious organizations, nonprofit organizations, private vacation camps, etc.
Summer camps are usually managed and led by a team of professional staff that includes camp directors, program coordinators, counselors, nurses, cooks, rescuers, and administrative staff. These staff members are responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising activities and programs, managing campers, ensuring safety and health, managing finances, and communicating with parents and guardians of campers.
Counselors are the people who directly take care of the campers and are responsible for their well-being during their stay at the camp.
